Ireland: A Cultural Mosaic
I have always taken great pride in my career as a journalist. The skills my profession has provided me with over the years have filled my arsenal with countless experiences and knowledge that can be applied to so many different areas. Whether it be in Public Relations, Media Consultancy, or development in its various formats, websites or otherwise. I have always tried to be impartial and treat people with the same respect I myself would want to be shown.
Journalism may have changed since I began, but the fundamentals of my profession will always remain the same.
- Educate. Keeping the story to the facts of what happened and the implications that it might have for the audience you are delivering the information to.
- Entertain. Keeping the story interesting and updated as circumstances change. I.e a Government Legislative bill on the budget.
- Inform. Assume nothing, believe only what you can attribute as fact and remain impartial, not basing anything on idealogy.
Ireland has become very much somewhat of cultural mosaic, and perhaps part of a larger melting pot; it is possible to live under the one Irish banner as people, regardless, of nationality, creed or orientation. We, as a nation of a hundred thousand welcomes, have always conducted ourselves in this manner in my humble opinion. Long may it continue in both numbers and strength.
